Around 300 years ago, primitive and warfaring humans inhabited the Northlands. They multiplied and spread rapidly, until the initiation of the Humans Restrict Act. This act was implemented to strategically contain and control the human population, leading to the construction of human habitats for this purpose.
At least, that is what the story suggests.

AS DESCRIBED BY OTHER PEOPLES
THE NATURE OF BIRTH
[B1.C19] revealed that Yu has observed three births in the Brnstream Human Habitat, perceiving them as violent and savage:
"From the top, they had looked down through their field-glasses upon thirty-one females, young and old. They had gathered waist-deep, clutching one among them as she writhed. Her convulsions lasted for what was one of the longest hours in Yu’s life. It had been so violent that she once struck her head against the stones, and yet the others carried on and held her steady, as if this agony were expected. They revelled in it. Then the child came, breaking surface in a smear of blood and river foam, hauled from the murk into the air and passed from hand to hand, while all of them shrieked and cried and ran around like mad things.
The infant, however, had been the most revolting thing. Human newborns are nothing but disgust given form through flesh, writhing and wailing. They are a horror of naked skin, slick and raw, with no feathers, no fur, no scales, and no clean break into the world. There is nothing whole about them. They are not born intact, not sealed in the safety of an egg, as fina were. They will never know the solace of a hatching ceremony. They are pulled into a world of savage screaming, ruptured right from one body into another. [...]
Three times, he had seen how violently the females tore apart their own bodies in the water, screaming into each other’s faces until their flesh split and the waters reddened. It was at the height of this pain and extasy that they spawned more of the same." [B1.C19]
RAPID GROWTH
"It was a stark reminder of how grotesquely alien humans were; how swiftly one generation dissolved into the next, how fast they reshaped themselves, how rapidly habit hardened into ritual, and ritual ossified into rule." [B1.C19]
Humans are confined to controlled habitats, where their environments, resources, and access to opportunities are strictly regulated by the directors. This control extends to their population, lifestyle, and societal development. Despite these restrictions, occasional incidents serve as stark reminders of humanity’s potential for change and growth — a dangerous echo of the destruction they wrought during the Human-Tairan Wars.
INDIVIDUAL HUMANS
A glossary of characters that have been mentioned or appeared.
Abar
Abilities: Unknown.
Age: Unknown.
First appearance: [B1.C12] A companion of Samasira with whom she climbed the Varren.
“Well, that was that. Where to next?”
“Please don’t ask”, Abar groaned. “I really, really don’t want to get back down again." [B1.C12]
Abar is mentioned as one of Samasira's companions. Together, they climbed the Varren to seek oracle from Faroah. [B1.C12] revealed that she was carried by Kel-Khadar for long passages. The chapter showed her studying a map and caring empathically for Samasira. In [B1.C17], she is brought into the Albweiss Mountain Guild with a terribly broken leg, which is treated by Bubs and Deltington in [B2.C18].
APPEARANCE
Yu initilly mistakes Abar with a young female tairan: "The girl’s pale complexion and the copper tinge in her hair could easily pass for one of the fiercer tairan mixes, those striking hybrids of flaxen blond and burning red that was so common among those with strong ancestry. This was tairan traits, if Yu had ever seen any." [B1.C18]
Travelling the Albweiss Mountain range, Abar wears a bulky, heavily stuffed jacket of white-grey fur.
HUMAN FEMALE A-84R15
The contract of purchase and ownership from [B1.C19] presumably legitamises Kel-Khadar as the owner of Abar. Yu deems it as a forgery, additionally stating that he never saw Abar at the habitat [B1.C19]. Dated 641, it gives the following specifics about Abar:
▪ Born in 631. Conceived and born in Settlement 08 through female A-84K14.
▪ Hair red, eyes light green and blue.
▪ Height 1.21 metres.
▪ Weight 26,5 kilograms.
