Chapter 13
Midnight continues her journey to the Albweiss Mountain Guild. After traversing through the southern face of the Albweiss Mountains, she must learn how to travel the Nowhere Snowtrail in her new darkness form.
After escaping the Shaira, who have held them captive for years within the Albweiss Mountains, wizard Salgier, his avian familiar Sahir, Ahrasik the voltera, and Barbarthara the scorchborn, alongside a golem, are intercepted and defeated by the Haraak ork horde. Amongst the orks are two powerful orichs and Nagrak, the runt.
Before dying, Salgier transcribes a warning about the Shaira’s ambitions and experiments unto one of Midnight’s messenger strings.
Chapter 14
Barbarthara takes root upon Nagrak to have him guide her off the Albweiss mountains. In her withered form, Nagrak – who is quite stupid to begin with – mistakes her for a wizard staff. Furthermore, he believes to feel the sacred [WERISS] and to be chosen by the mountain to start his ork walkabout. Venturing off on his own, he quickly trips over the edge of the path. In his fall, he smashes through the ice ceiling of a cave and gets caught and stuck in a rock crevice, while Barbarthara falls into the cave.
Midnight continues her journey across the Nowhere Snowtrail to the Albweiss Mountain Guild.
Chapter 15
As of now, Yu enjoyed a pampered life at the estate of his shirka Tria, who owns the human habitat amidst the Barnstream settlemens. That is, until she kicks him out and arranges for him to work as a guard for the Albweiss Mountain Guild. To get there, he braves the Snowtrail with an escort team of skilled fighters and then takes up his post as the guild’s new Transcender. He has a mess of a first day.
Unfortunately, he is not a wizard, but a wizard-fina bastard, who failed to show any noteworthy skill. He does, however, hear voices that reveal strange truths to him. He hears a witch approaching the guild.
Chapter 16
In the grand cavern, Barbarthara battles and defeats the Weaver King. She then succumbs to poison-induced changes. Nagrak is still trapped.
Chapter 17
The guards and guests of the Albweiss Mountain guild confront Samasira, the approaching witch, and her party. A fight breaks out, magic and claws clashing, until the dispute is interrupted by the residentual shaman of the guild. After undergoing a shamanic reading, Kel-Khadar and a krynn, as well as two injured companions, are permitted to enter. Meanwhile, Samasira and a Sylvren leave to spend the night on the Nowhere Snowtrail.
Yu senses a larger scheme at play. He believes the guild guards, as well as Harrow and several members of her party, are in truth part of a criminal syndicate that has quietly seized control of the guild from within.
